individuals that are dealing with diabetes. For many of
them, it comes in the form of type 2 diabetes and has a lot to
do with an individual's lifestyle. Of course, there are
also those who have a problem with their pancreas and have to
deal with diabetes throughout their lifetime, regardless of the
lifestyle that they keep. It doesn't matter, however,

for diabetic control. You might be surprised at the

As you are probably aware, diabetes is a
problem with the pancreas and its ability to produce the
proper amount of insulin. The reason that the
pancreas needs to produce insulin, however, is because of
the sugar that is in our blood. If we allow too much
sugar to flow through our bloodstream as a result of poor
diet choices then the pancreas may not be able to produce
the proper amount of insulin to neutralize that
sugar. You can change the amount of sugar in your
system by making sure that you are eating foods that are
low on the glycemic index but there may be another way in
order to take care of the situation.
Doctors have found that eating high fiber foods for diabetic
care can reduce the amount of blood sugar that is in your
system by up to 10%. This is even without making any
other dietary changes than getting some fiber to your diet on a
regular basis. Those are pretty significant figures
considering the fact that many diabetics worked very hard to
make sure that their sugar levels are low on a constant
basis. What type of foods, however, can you eat in order
to keep your blood sugars low? What is the best source of
this fiber?
Fiber actually comes in a lot of different sources and many
of the ones that you eat which are low on the glycemic index,
such as fresh vegetables, contain a lot of fiber in
themselves. You may also be able to add additional fiber
and your diet, however, by making sure that you eat such things
as ground flaxseed. You also need to be concerned about
the type of fiber that you are getting as there is both soluble
and insoluble fiber. Both of them are important for you
to have if you are going to control your sugar level in this
way. The insoluble fiber is usually available through
things like flour, bran, nuts and vegetables. Soluble
fiber is more gelatinous and is typically found in oats,
apples, citrus fruits, barley and psyllium. Make sure
that you include high fiber foods in your diabetic diet on
a regular basis and you should see lasting benefits from a
lower sugar level.
